Iran to setup venezuelás industrial parks 2007 / 08 / 02

Venezuela’s Minister of Basic Industry and Mining JosŽ Salamat Khan stated that the Islamic Republic will help the Latin American country set up advanced industrial townships to develop its basic industries.

He was speaking in a meeting with Mohsen Shaterzadeh, Iranian deputy industries and mines minister for economic and international affairs who is in Venezuela to hold talks with officials of that country, IRIBNews reported on Wednesday.

Commending Iran’s progress in economic and industrial fields, Khan emphasized, “Despite the sanctions imposed by the United States and its European allies and its eight-year war with Iraq (1980-88), Iran has attained modern technologies in the industrial sector.“

Tehran and Caracas have signed 152 documents and agreements on cooperation. The two sides inked 11 documents during a visit by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in January to three Latin American states including Venezuela.

The agreements mainly include cooperation in the fields of energy and oil, light and heavy industries, mining, agriculture and animal husbandry.

Venezuela is a strategic partner of Iran and among the most influential countries in Latin America.
