He
was speaking in a meeting with Mohsen Shaterzadeh, Iranian deputy
industries and mines minister for economic and international affairs who
is in Venezuela to hold talks with officials of that country, IRIBNews reported on Wednesday. Commending
Iran’s progress in economic and industrial fields, Khan emphasized,
“Despite the sanctions imposed by the United States and its European
allies and its eight-year war with Iraq (1980-88), Iran has attained
modern technologies in the industrial sector.“ Tehran and Caracas
have signed 152 documents and agreements on cooperation. The two sides
inked 11 documents during a visit by Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad in January to three Latin American states including Venezuela. The
agreements mainly include cooperation in the fields of energy and oil,
light and heavy industries, mining, agriculture and animal husbandry. Venezuela is a strategic partner of Iran and among the most influential countries in Latin America.
